Hi Stephan
Hope you are well
I have a worm problem. My worms are dying!
I went away for the weekend and when I came back I noticed that the worms are dying and the worm farm is smelling bad.
There is mould on side of bucket. Worms have been crawling on the side of the bucket since I bought them from you..
Why is that? They should be in the food. There have also been other weird looking creatures in the bucket as you can see in the pictures I sent to you. They also walk along the side of the worm bucket.
Regards,
Cathy
Hello Cathy,
sorry to hear about your worm farm problems. The way it sounds there is definitely something wrong with your worm farm. If a few worms crawls along the walls of a worm farm that is usually not a problem but if a lot of them are sticking to the walls and the worm farm has developed a bad odor it is not a good sign.
The creature I see on the top side of your worm farm looks like a soldier fly maggot. They are one of the only problematic insects that can cause problems inside a worm farm. Although they don't attack worms directly compost worms dislike them and get our of their way which could be one of the reasons why there are worms on the sides of your worm farm.
I think it would be best if you bring your worm farm to our workshop as soon as you can. Maybe tomorrow morning or afternoon would be good for you and we will see what the exact problems are clean the worm farm up and start it fresh up for you if necessary.
Kind regards
Stephan Kloppert
