If your worm farm is invaded by flies and maggots result, are they a threat to the worms or just helping to dispose of the waste faster?

Hello Phil,

most flies that get into worm farms are more a nuisance than a threat to the resident worm herd.

The maggots are usually just helping/competing with the worms for the available food.

However, the maggots of the Black Soldier Fly can actually cause compost worms to migrate down deep into your worm bin and either die or leave the worm bin.

You can find some more information about soldier fly maggots in several articles I wrote about the subject of worm-composting-help.com

I hope this helps.

Kind regards and Gods richest blessings to you and your family
