Questions and answers about starting a profitable worm business

Short answer

Readers of my book often want to ask follow-up questions. The best way is the question form on this site: your question and my answer get published so other readers can learn from them too, and your email and personal details stay private.

This page began with a message from a reader in the United States. I’ve kept it, and my reply, and added the questions people most often ask me about the book and the business, with links to the answers.

What did the reader write?

“I have bought your book "How to start a profitable worm business on a shoestring budget". And I loved it. I read another book called "Commercial Vermiculture: How to build a thriving Business in Redworms". And it was not nearly as good as yours. I am already trying to get the business going, following your plan. I have lots of questions and was hoping to be able to communicate some via email.”

How to Start a Profitable Worm Business on a Shoestring Budget by Stephan Kloppert

Haven’t read the book yet?

Most answers on this page are covered in much more detail in the book, step by step. I’ve written it all down in my book How to Start a Profitable Worm Business on a Shoestring Budget. The printed book and the Kindle edition are sold on Amazon.

Can I ask you my questions by email?

I prefer to answer on the site. That way your question and my answer help other readers too, and I can point people with similar questions to the same page. Use the free troubleshooting helpline or the contact page. Your email address and personal details are always kept private. My time is limited, but I answer as many as I can.

Do I need to buy worms to start?

Not always. In many countries you can find compost worms in compost heaps, manure and nurseries. See start a worm business without buying worms.

How much space and money do I need?

Very little to begin with: about 1 m² / 10 sq ft and free worm food. Read worm farming as a home business opportunity. I don’t quote income figures; what you earn depends on your market and your effort.

I have land and farming experience. How do I begin?

Start small anyway. A reader with 3000 m² asked the same: see how to start a worm business?

Where do I buy the book?

The printed book and the Kindle edition are sold on Amazon. All links are on the book page, along with the table of contents. Before you buy, read what customers say about it.
